Most pupils attending Ysgol Cambrian travel to school using Local Authority transport. Home to school transport is arranged and provided by Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council (RCTCBC) in line with the Learner Travel (Wales) Measure 2008 and the Council’s Home to School Transport Policy.
RCT provides free home to school transport for learners who attend their nearest suitable school and live beyond the safe walking distance. This is defined as:
For pupils with Additional Learning Needs, RCT continues to provide specialist transport to ensure safe and appropriate travel arrangements.

The Local Authority assesses each child’s needs to ensure transport is safe, appropriate and meets statutory requirements.
Once a place at Ysgol Cambrian is confirmed by the Local Authority, the transport team will:
Families receive written confirmation directly from RCTCBC.
All transport follows the Learner Travel Behaviour Code and must meet Welsh Government safety standards. Passenger assistants are provided where needed to support pupils with medical, behavioural or mobility needs.
