Communication With Parents and Families

At Ysgol Cambrian, strong communication between home and school is essential. Many of our pupils are non‑verbal or use alternative methods of communication, so we make sure families are kept fully informed and connected to daily school life in ways that are accessible, consistent and meaningful.

Home–School Books

Every pupil has a home–school book that travels between home and school each day.
This is a key communication tool, especially for pupils who are non‑verbal or use Total Communication approaches.

Home–school books are used to share:

  • important messages
  • updates on learning and wellbeing
  • information about the school day
  • reminders or upcoming events

Parents and carers are encouraged to write in the book too, helping us maintain a strong partnership.

Bromcom: Messages, Emails and Text Alerts

We use Bromcom to send:

  • emails
  • text messages
  • urgent updates
  • reminders and notices

This ensures families receive information quickly and reliably. Please make sure the school office has your up‑to‑date contact details so you don’t miss important messages.

Twitter (X)

We use our school Twitter (X) account to share:

  • photos of learning
  • celebrations and achievements
  • class activities
  • whole‑school events

This gives families a window into daily school life and helps you feel connected to your child’s experiences.

Accessible Communication for All Pupils

Because many of our pupils are non‑verbal or use alternative communication methods, we ensure that all communication with families reflects:

  • Total Communication approaches
  • visual supports
  • Makaton signing
  • clear, parent‑friendly language

Our aim is to make communication meaningful, inclusive and supportive for every family.
