Parent and Carer Workshops

At Ysgol Cambrian, we are committed to supporting families as well as pupils. Throughout the year, we offer a range of parent and carer workshops designed to build confidence, strengthen understanding and provide practical strategies that can be used at home.

These sessions take place in our Wellbeing Centre and are delivered during the school day to make them as accessible as possible.

What Our Workshops Cover

Our workshops focus on key areas that families tell us matter most, including:

  • behaviour support and positive strategies
  • communication skills and Total Communication approaches
  • understanding sensory needs
  • supporting emotional wellbeing
  • working with multi‑agency professionals

We use a multi‑agency approach, meaning sessions may be delivered by school staff, therapists, external specialists or a combination of professionals working together.

Who Delivers the Workshops

Workshops are led by:

  • our Wellbeing Team
  • our Behaviour Support Lead
  • visiting professionals and multi‑agency partners

This ensures families receive high‑quality, practical guidance from staff who know our pupils well.

If You Can’t Attend

We understand that not all parents and carers are able to attend sessions during the school day. To support this:

  • families can request printed copies
  • staff are available to discuss any of the content individually

If you require more information, please contact the school office and a member of the Wellbeing Team will be happy to help.

Parent Voice: Tell Us What You Need

We want our workshops to reflect the real needs of our families. If there is a specific topic, skill, or area of support you would find helpful, we encourage you to let us know.

This might include:

  • behaviour strategies
  • communication tools
  • sensory regulation
  • sleep routines
  • emotional wellbeing
  • supporting independence
  • understanding diagnoses

Your feedback helps us shape future sessions and ensures our support is meaningful, relevant and responsive to the needs of our community.

Parents and carers can share suggestions with the school office or speak directly to a member of the Wellbeing Team.
