Believe. Belong. Become.
At Ysgol Cambrian, the safety, protection and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We are committed to creating a safe, nurturing environment where pupils feel valued, listened to and protected from harm. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and it underpins all aspects of school life.
Our Designated Safeguarding Persons (DSPs) are responsible for leading safeguarding and child protection across the school. They offer advice, guidance and training to all staff and ensure that safeguarding procedures are followed consistently.
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL): Nicola Clark Head of School and Aron Bradley Executive Headteacher
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Liam Hale Assistant Headteacher and TBC
Our Children Looked After (CLA) Lead is: TBC
We also have a nominated Safeguarding Governor who monitors safeguarding practice and ensures that our policies comply with current legislation and statutory guidance.
If we believe that a child is at risk of harm, or has been harmed, we have a legal duty to report our concerns to the relevant safeguarding team or the police immediately. We do not have a choice in this matter.
Where appropriate, we will always work closely with parents and carers to resolve concerns. However, there may be situations where we must make a referral without prior discussion with parents if doing so is necessary to protect the child. In all cases, the child’s safety comes first.
Any allegations made against the Headteacher must be reported directly to the Chair of Governors. Contact details for the Chair of Governors can be obtained from the school office.
Our Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy is reviewed annually and updated in line with national guidance, including Keeping Learners Safe. A copy of the policy is available on request and will be published on our website.
Safeguarding is central to our ethos at Ysgol Cambrian. Every member of staff is committed to ensuring that all pupils are safe, supported and able to thrive.
